Methylene Blue in Aquarium.

Methylene blue is an aniline dye that forms a blue solution when dissolve in water. It is also known as methylthionine chloride. It is antiseptic, antibacterial , anti protozoan and antifungal.

Formula: C16H18N3SCl.3H2O

Dosage: Make a 1% solution in distilled water to use in aquarium. After that add 2 ml in per 10 liter of aquarium water.

Usage: Methylene blue is used in the treatment of various fish diseases such as ich, velvet and other bacterial, protozoan and fungal infection. It reduces the toxicity of Nitrite in aquariums. It is also used with fish eggs to prevent from the fungal contamination.

Caution: It also kills beneficial bacteria in aquarium. It is toxic for aquatic plants and humen skin.
