Are river rocks suitable for aquarium?

Are river rocks suitable for aquarium?

I am keeping aquarium from last 5-6 months. now want to start a planted tank. I bring some river rocks from haridwar. are these suitable for aquarium? I read on internet that all rocks are not suitable for aquarium.

Most of the rocks affects water chemistry. Before introducing particular rocks, check them.

Yes, they may be harmful for aquarium fishes. Sometimes they increase hardness etc.

River rocks are most stable type of rock for aquarium purposes. In my opinion you don't even need to test them.They have already weathered for a very long time under flowing water and they still exist because they are almost insoluble.

Any dead fish can flow down the river but it takes a live one to swim back up stream.

Yes they can be used. I am using boulders brought from North Bengal river teesta, and they are being kept in my discus tank. If stones brought from any mining area there may be problem. River stone? No prob man, go ahead.
