Water Changes in Winters

Unread post by rahul2kcuteguy »

Hi All,
As this would be my first experience of winters in hobby , kindly advice on water changes schedule & proper way to do it.
I have a south American chichlid tank with a pair of oscars.
Also, installed sera 300 watt heater.
Thanks & Regards,

Always do small water changes. for example if you are doing 20% per week reduce it to 10% twice a week.

Always disconnect the heaters 10 min in advance so that the heaters cools down to normal temperature thus will not crack as a result of sudden temperature drop.

If it is possible for you to maintain the same temperature of new water to previous one then it will be good.

Thanks Sushant & Rajeev for feedback.
Well, it really make sense to what is suggested like doing less % water changes more frequently in winters.
Also, i think adding lukewarm water will be much better as exactly same can only be achieved by putting spare heater in tank.

24-26ºC would be fine.
