Ion-Exchange Resin Beads Reduce Nitrates?

Unread post by magicarshad »

Hi All,

Does Ion-exchange (or DI) resin beads (polymer) works to reduce PH & nitrates in freshwater tanks?

I got this below message and seller's details on internet (Don't know where, but save this in my notebook);

“Ion-exchange (or DI) resin beads (polymer) used to soften hard water (brings down the PH level), & makes the water soft (suitable for freshwater fishes). It contains ionized particles to trap nitrates. This reduces the necessity for frequent aquarium water changes, as nitrates are reduced in the water. Also, polishes the water to high clarity.” {100Ml Packing (With Bag) - Rs. 280}

If anyone know about this.

Please hlep
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
Arshad

Some of these are available in market. I forget the name of these.

Thanks Rajiv Ji,

So, can I use it in to my Discus tank to reduce nitrates to avoid frequent water changes?

Hi Arshad,

You might want to read about RO-DI filter, they use this principle. So Its like connecting a RO filter to your tank water. I am pretty sure its a cost factor that doesn't allow to use one. Did he mention any about how much nitrates it will absorb?
