Outdoor tubs collection.

Unread post by KarthikC »

Hi guys, wanted to share my outdoor containers collection. After a lot of trial and error with substrate, fish an plants, finally I seem to have found relatively a good balance in them.

Container #1: female betta tub
Size: 1.5' radius and 2' depth.
Substrate: garden soil.
Other hardware: one brick, I use stones, bricks because at the time of water change, direct impact of water wi disturb the substrate.
Plants: large echinodorous x 3, Cryptocoryne Spiralis x 1, ludwigia sedoides x 2, Cryptocoryne wendtii (not seen in the pic): 6, a huge bunch of najas indica and few lilies, one bunch of ludwigia ovalis.
Inhabitants: 4 female HMPK betta
Wc: once a week, top up: often.

It's a very nice plant. Beautiful and very easy to grow outside. Needs high light.

How you manage the temperature in outdoor tub?

Sir, nothing special. Bangalore is quite pleasant throughout the year, thankfully. Here's a closer pic:

I am facing low temperature issue in my outdoor tank. There are some Ghost shrimps, but I thought they have to transfer in another tank with heater.

Oh. I have experienced the Dehli Winter few years back! I still remember how i was shivering. However, must be a good time to grow plants.

Bangalore is paradise. No wonder so many people from left and right are rushing to it :) But you south indians should not let its gardens and greenery run out, even if you have to start a VISA system :D :D It is your responsibility to keep its special character and rich native heritage alive forever.

When i was in school there for 3 years (Army School, Kamaraj Road), there was no heater in my tank and it worked all year just fine.

You tubs are very nice, Karthik. why dont you try keeping some gammarus in them? They will love these... i know you can find them if you try.
