DIY Air pump

Has anyone here experience of DIY air pump, would like to try it for my new tank. If someone has would like to know about the process to set it up.

I too was wondering the same. DIY air pump filter is doable but the diy air pump is probably a bit too demanding although the mechanism is simple enough. As for the diy air pump filter/ sponge filter, I have been thinking of it for the past month. I am not using any filters now! If you are planning this for your planted, do let me know and I will help out.

I know about air pump filter and wont be a tough deal. But i want to know about DIY air pump.

Why not buy an air pump? It ought to work out cheaper and more efficient to boot.

I can't help but ask what have you planned for a DIY air pump?

BTW I prefer being called deepesh (alone). Dr Deepesh and Deepeshji I find a little too formal. Anyways I am very junior in terms of experience which should be a major if not main criteria in an online forum (I think).

Well just for the sake of trying i want to try and in fact likely chances are in DIY would end up spending more but no big deal.

So what do you suggest as I am planning for a planted tank.

The last time I took apart an air pump was years and years ago. At that time it consisted of an elctromagnetic actuator that vibrated a rubber diaphragm over an air chamber fitted with a one way valve. Elegantly simple construction which makes it a little difficult to procur appropriate parts. I have not used one for the past decade or so finding them pointless in my sparsely populated tanks.

For co2 injected tanks they area big no as pointed out above. Though I think many people with co2 injected tanks keep air pumps around as part of the emergency treatment for co2 overdosing.
