DIY Lily Pipe

Unread post by apuda2010 »

Due to the shifting, I had to dismantle my tank. One problem I faced was pipes - 12mm and 16mm Eheims. I had some, but wanted to build my own stuff so that I could control the water the way I wanted.

Off I went to Chawri Bazar and procured some 10mm and 12mm (ID) pipes. I already had a heat gun. One crucial element was s solid silicon pipe, which helped ensure no kinks or twists after heating. Here are three pipes that I made.

My only concern is whether these are food grade acrylic. If they are not then water mixed with CO2 will definitely react and make these change colour. Fellow hobbyists please do share your views.

I guess someone (probably wojtek) made similar lily pipes a few years ago.

I dont know that they are food grade or not but they do not change color in presence of CO2.

Please let me know how you made them with help of heat gun?

Guys....will post the procedure shortly after the shifting is over.

However, if ANY hobbyist wants ANY kind of pipe in ANY angle or form, please let me know. I will be happy to provide you with the stuff free of cost (provided you give me the pipe of course :). I am going to be based in Bangalore but will keep coming to Delhi often. Remember this offer is for hobbyists registered on Aquapetz only.

Do note that the entire thing is very very easy to do and saves you HUGE amount of time and effort looking around for elbows, connectors, lily pipes etc etc.
