Wow, you get new ideas on regular installments... :thumup This one sounds very good too. Wish it was possible to grow coconuts as well in non-coastal areas, like we can with date palms...

You do get them in Bengal and Assam and the coconut water is sweeter than I had in the south!

Bengal i can understand, since it has a coastline too, albeit much reduced due to the partition of Bengal. But cocunuts common in Assam is news to me... must be due to the exceptional soil of this blessed state...

You can see them way up north Bengal around siliguri coch Bihar and then into neighboring parts of Assam. Both Areca palms and coconut palms along with bamboo stands and ponds with lots of floating plants are essential parts of the landscape.

Aim having having a major attack of nostalgia!

Also these areas should be great for collecting indigenous fish but then also plagued by violence?

The violence is understandable. Where the soil is fertile and the people peace-loving, immigrants will inevitably want to squat and corner... one reason violence happens is that it works. You should go wherever your heart wants to, but after making the effort to figure out what preperations are needed.

We are going to watch it! When buying green coconuts, is there anyting that one must look for? Is heavier better? Is a coconut that has yellow spots ok? I saw a vendor recently... though pricey here, at least it is natural.

Neil, have your covered the tray with anything? I think due to high moisture in your place, there is no need of cover?
