What about substrate?
You can got rocks from Laxmi Nagar or M.G. Road or Gurgaon.

You can also use coral sand.

Re: Tanganyikan Setup try out
I have used coral sand in one of my cichlid tank, but it becomes very dirty, read a few post online on other forums and Live sand seems to be a good option and red sea reef base. I am still a novoice but the live sand kept ph at 7ish. Which i believe is good for cichlid.
I have purchased rocks from MG road side vendors that sell stones and other landscaping material, similar to what is available at laxmi nagar at 5 times the price. But i find them just like picking a rock from any road side while traveling in the country, nothing really fantastic, just common brown and black slate kind of rock or river rock. What will look good is if we can find rocks like the ones available aborad, has anyone seen those at any lfs ? Most of them use artificial rocks in their cichlid setups.

Go for fine sand. I'm currently using white quartz sand and feel it is little bit bigger for their mouth. Anyways, coral sand will add more maintenance for you.
for rocks, check if you can source some limestones, those are good ones in order to maintain hardness. But I heard Delhi/NCR region has hard water, isn't that the case?

NCR region already has hard water, and I would be using 50% tap water and 50% RO. Went with Red sea reef base + used argonite for the substrate and some MMLR for now. Will try and source some Lime stone from Uttranchal easier to find them there.adesh8028 wrote:Go for fine sand. I'm currently using white quartz sand and feel it is little bit bigger for their mouth.
