Re: My current American Cichlid setup
I have little expertise in keeping Central American cichlids and hence my advice on its scape may be misplaced. However, this is what I have read about many aggressive cichlid species. While doing its scape one has to take into account its territoriality. Usually a dominant cichlid will claim caves, shades etc. So if these are very close to each other, you may have a problem. Therefore, creating 2/3 different zones in the tank may be a good idea. In that sense your last scape is better. The large rock do look misfit though. How about pushing it to one corner and placing some of the driftwoods above/over it? that is, let some portion of the driftwoods stick out of water. that way, there will be open swimming spaces, nice corners and yet not a distracting rock in the scape.

Re: My current American Cichlid setup
American Cichlids r bigger n slower than their smaller, more aggressive and very quicker african cousins. Moreover, africans need lot of caves n hiding spots to claim as their territory, Americans do need their personal space, but are not really hiders in caves and rocks, they like to swim more in the open, if ur tank is big enough, they seldom have problems other than a minor tiff and chase every now n then. Thanx for ur suggestion, maybe next time i'll try that again, regardsbmukh wrote:I have little expertise in keeping Central American cichlids and hence my advice on its scape may be misplaced.
