Congrats Rajivjee and Vijendrajee you both are correct. Its the American Museum of Natural History'. The ichthyological collection comprises approximately 2,000,000 specimens.

Its an easy one.. Which fish is known as four-eyed fish and why it is called so?

It is a kind of killifish, i think, called Annablebs. Two eyes only, but adapted to use them to simultaneously for viewing both above and below the water surface. Saw a documentary when growing up, on TV :)

this fish has two sets of iris in each eye and the lens is bifurcated into two halves with different focal length to simultaneous view above and under the water.

Answer

Congarts Romijee and Sushant. Yes it is Anableps anableps which have a split eyes, thus the fish is able to look above and below the water surface at the same time. Its split retina has two regions. The ventral region, enabling it to see above water and the dorsal region, allowing it to see clearly below water. For this reasons, this fish has been more commonly called the “Four Eyed Fish”

It is 43 years, saw it on BBC, think also is in Guinness book of world record.
