Go ahead and start building one, I am not into fish keeping now a days or would have initiated it..

Rajiv Ji and other team members can we start working on this one too.. It will be a big job- but can be achieved, and also broken down the fishes into species list such as tetra, cichlid, etc. will help a lot.

I am able to handle a plant database but fish database :cnf should need a experienced member. I have already shown interest in a guy but he did not respond :dua .

guys,

the reason Indians spend time on a fish club or portal like indianaquairumhobbyist.com is not that they dont have information on fish species or access to detailed plant profiles. The internet has many websites like www.seriouslyfish.com that can equal or surpass the knowledge of even professional ichthyogists! the reason we come here is that George Farmer or TAkashi Amano will not help us decide where to plant our HC or how to grow it. It will be good friendly decent helpful fellow hobbyists like ourselves who have been there and done that, already. Since they know how difficult it was to do it alone, they will gladly SHARE information with us out of sympathy and pure friendliness! It is that simple.

Unfortunately, I have seen, for quite some time now, there are enough 'active' hobbyists who have to think many times before they decide to part with useful tips that they have themselves found to be helpful and time-saving. If we do away with this close-mindedness and each one of us, makes it a cause to share our learning, slowly but surely, this website will carve a place of its own, not only here in NCR but all over the country. Whether you are an LED expert, or a master tank maker, please take the time and effort to make replies whenever u see a new thread where your help is needed. It is better to make ONE post where you share REAL KNOWLEDGE, obtained HANDS-ON, than to write endless 'great fish, beautiful' or 'nice', 'wow', 'superb' messages and jack up the message count. Or to just google and get ideas and post them here. Luckily, all of can do that, if needed. Remember, no one will give the site a prize for the most messages. Our site will win if it gets the most hits, the most dedicated and helpful hobbyists, a good environment in the forums, a good feeling of camaraderie.

I am seriously very keen to see some lighting solution threads, some good DIY hoods, some breeding projects like vijendra's apistos, some rare but beautiful ifsh like LAetacare curviceps and dorsigera... ah... Let us all SPECIALISE. And then help and get help. It is not rocket theory, just common sense.

Hope i don't get too many red faces now! Please excuse me if i do.

best wishes,
Romi

Agree to Romi. We should share our knowledge to improve the hobby. Here are lots of active members, they have endless knowledge but they hesitate in posting. All of we are the base of the forum. We should always try to post some new articles based on experience. All of we are not earning or winning anything by sharing our knowledge. Our articles/post will be help to hobbyist.

Sorry to say, but a complete wrong topic for discussion. You never will be able to find out the reason from the reply. As being a mod or Admin of any forum, first thing is to catch the pulse of the members to make them active. Notice what kind of thread/ discussion are getting maximum hits inputs. Try to understand where members are feeling comfortable and start discussion on that line. Once you do this and keep spoon feeding, after some time you will get a bunch of active members and steady flow of posts. A handfull of active members or a couple of good posts can't make any forum active or successful. So as being the managemnt crew, that should be the high priority responsibility.

@Rajeev ji... Did you install any kind of analytics tools for the portal. If not, do it right away. The best way to understand, how the forum is doing.

Tirtha

Very valid point Abhimanyuji, but I seriously want to distinguish between a active member and a visitor. A active member is already with the flow if the forum, Like me, will contribute and take part in the discussion, But I am more concern the person who visits everyday but cant find anything interesting to take part in the discussion . APZ will take more time to get that position but we want to hear from them how this forum can be different from other. People visits different discussion forum(not only fishy or planted), will ask members(never get confused about your contribution, atleast I never) to bring new ideas to facilitate to discussion, there will be tough discussion on some posting but thats apart of any forum.

Tirthada I never hesitate to take part in any discussion, and contribute where ever possible(even I am very new to this particular section of hobby, Aquascaping), so I feel like me, people also very easily come and discuss and mainly one outcome of the thread is that "we the color holders" are very eager to allow all members to post from a ease level of sharing.

your contribution to any site or forum you are is there for all of us to see buddy :clp Sincerity in itself is a big thing... and your rock and driftwood arrangements are eyecatching without fail. i wish each of us also can find the one talent in us that we can focus on and develop. i am sure then the quality of the posts we make will climb fast! We need more inspiration like you give us. I wish we could find a way to get people like Monty Chadda of Delhi to be active too!

There are many. But personally I use Google Analytics.

Without a tool, it's impossible to see how a site is doing.
