The one that I have used in my past and will use in my newest project will be a small refrigerator it self.
buy a small second hand refrigerator drill holes on both sides of the freezer and wound SS tube in the freezer and connect it to piper from the aquarium and to the aquarium.
use a pusher or a puller impeller type water motors.and make sure to connect the refrigerator to a temperature regulator with its probe in the water,
cheap, easy and better than the most.
at the present i am using commercial chiller by Aquael. its very compact and silent but the draw back of above mentioned DIY is it would be a lil bulky.

Keeping an eye on the replies of this thread.

Sushant, you can do it easily due to electronics background.

There are lot of DIY using peltier calculator, but this one i found the best. But i was not able to find a Digital thermo meter readily available which can be used.

For the peltier and other stuff required, pls see this site

I am not getting time, sooon as i have something on hand will try this. For now 2 small fans are doing the job fine.

i'm working on a DIY peltier based chiller myself. currently waiting for the plates to arrive. one of our friend here (Pramod) is already using a similar setup for his tank. the only constraint is that it won't be much effective for bigger tank (more than 10 gallons)
