well a resistance of 3-5 ohm (static) will cost not more than Rs 10/- and a dynamic may cost anything btw Rs 25-30/- max. so depends who wants to go with what.. :)

But you will still risk burning the resistance once in a while when you get an over voltage. Quiet common in delhi.

Well then it's easier this way, put two 3 ohm resisters connected in parallel, distributing the load most complications sorted..:)

Thanks for the inputs every one. Let me try to ans each doubts raised

Driver was costing about 75/ for 3*1watt led, so i would have required about 2 of them so 150, secondly this was more of POC so wanted to make it cheap and reusable as possible. If i would have bought the drivers, i cant use them for 3Watts which i intend to move on to.

There are total of 6 LED, 4 white, 2 Blue. 3 on each strip connected in series and then both the strip are in parallel.

Each strip, i think has 15 or 23Ohm resistor on it. I used this calculator available http://ledcalc.com/#calc

Resisters i got about 20 of them of various range right from 5 to 30 for about 50/-.

Lens is not required, i want the light to spread.

I got these from shop no 196 Lajpat Rai mkt and resistors from Shop no 385-A Lajpat rai market.

For this i did buy a multimeter and solder, all that costed about 300/-
LED were, if i recall correct were 43or 45 per Piece
So total cost was
LED - 300 Approx
Multimeter+Soldering 300
resistiors 50
Thermal Grease -15
So totals upto 665/
Reflector free, from food ordered :D. Satisfaction, unlimited :LOL spply with so many reviews :thumup thanks every one

For 3 watts, the best would be driver 3*3 watt driver. Its available on ebay also.

Of if you want to do some diy and have time and patience, soldering iron, multimeter and resistors, then yon can pick up old computer SMPS unit, it has output of supply starting from 12v to 24 v. So you can use that to power your leds. Or you can even use old laptop adapters, they deliver about 24v, so that should be able to power about 7 of those LED easily.

But this is longer route, faster would be getting driver, you will have setup up and running in less than an hr.

Lovely, made very neat but i am sure we can make that too.

The side stand and frame, ammir can do excellent job. For the led frame, thats aluminium extrusions, that can be sourced too.

But the main is the Super luminous LEDs.
