I am taking a guess that these plants can do well in a low-tech setup too. By low tech I mean less light and no co2. Am I right?

Crypt parva is the best bet for a low light medium light no co2 setup. But not easy to procure and at the same time turns out to be an expensive plant if you want to form a carpet.

I think tenellus, marsilea and crypt parva are good. Just give high flow n weekly twice water change and if possible cool water. I've had pretty good success with marsilea hirsuta. :)

Cheers,

Karthik

Many guys hv mentioned marsilea here, but in my experience it doesn't do very well without co2 dosing.
Please correct me if I am wrong and also guide how to achieve success with it.
Warm regards

My experience says Marsilea appreciates a good substrate. But it doesn't mean it wont grow in inert substrates.
I have grown it in inert substrate with low light and no CO2- I did well
I have grown it in DIY mineralized vermicompost mix - It formed a carpet quickly and grew nicely
I have seen it growing in ADA - It literally explodes

In any case crypts are the sturdiest of all. Once they settle in, they behave like almost plastic plants. Never had crypt parva though.

parva is very slow growing plant so you would need lot of it for carpet marselius does very well without Co2 also, but good light . I had carpet without CO2, and 50%WC once a week

Anubias petite for carpet? Would love to see a picture. How long would it take to make a carpet of Anubias Petite?
