Diatoms automatically disappears after proper cycling of tank.

It's not very uncommon to reappear if tank enters mini cycling phase.

If your tank is cycled and the diatoms came back again , then you have excess silicates in your tank. Whats your dosing schedule ? How much light you have ? Generally low light tanks face diatom issues even after the tank is cycled . If you can introduce few otocinclus or some native sp's like balitora/sucatio minnow , it will go away in few days.

Ottos are better or some dwarf pleco.
I see quite many sellers just sell balitora/sucatio hyped as best algae eater. But they really are torrent fish, and need high flow and high oxygen levels. So, care needs to be taken before adding to a proper "planted tank", hence wouldnt suggest them. Unfortunately that was my case atleast on first experience, yours may vary.
Or it could be BBA in brown colour.
As Sushant mentions, do you clean your filter & media completely frequently?
Coming straight to your question, IMO that medication is for bacteria not for plants, so will affect your filteration more rather than killing the algae. Wish killing algae was so easy
