Have you seen ever skooty driver girls. 666 They try to cover themselves with cloths. Now you can consider how harmful is UV. Wait the response of any doctor.

I always try to control Nitrate in all of my aquariums. My aquariums also get natural light. But after know about UV LEDs, I am trying to find those.

yep, just googled.
They are 3% UV-B: which Rajiv ji says is the useful red maker
and 97% UV-A that does the aro/skin tanning

From what I read, anything other than UV-A in concentration is harmful.

Quotes
For example, squamous cell carcinoma (a type of skin cancer) is caused by a UVB induced mutation in the p53 gene.[26]

UVB rays cause skin to burn and directly damages DNA by interfering with its replication cycle.[32] Excessive exposure to UVA radiation has its risks, which may cause premature aging, including wrinkles, sunspots, and loss of skin elasticity.[25]

UVB causes burns, snow blindness, immune system suppression, and a variety of skin problems including skin cancer and premature aging.[32]

Short-wavelength UVB has been recognized for some time as carcinogenic in experimental animals.[84]

So, my question is how much lumens/intensity or any measure of this UV-B should be used? I understand Sun has them in decent proportions, but what intensity must we aim in artificial systems?

@aawnaik sorry for the late reply might be missed by everyone
To measure nitrate level you ll need test kits which is easily available at lfs
Best available kit is sailfert though bit pricy, you can also use API testkit pretty reliable
Controlling nitrates is pretty easy regular waterchange, controlled feeding, and less bio load

@vishal being your first post here i would like to heartily welcome you, why dont you introduce yourself in the introduction part
And for your query lets wait for some expert to pitch in :)
Have a good stay at aquapetz
Finally i am Broke but Happy :D
