Seed shrimp infestation ? - solution

Unread post by Shrimpheaven »

Hello All,

Tonight I experienced a wonder may be few people reading already tried . my shrimps tanks were infested by Seed shrimps . I initially thought they were harmless and after reading blogs i stopped feeding to get rid of them not knowing how devastating they could be . Third day I saw one of my shrimplet dead and these creatures feeding on shrimp . I assumed they might be eating the dead shrimp. Today I came from work just was looking at the tank and saw few seed shrimps chasing CRS and they enter the belly part in 20 minutes the shrimp died .
I did not know what to do time 1 AM in the morning just read some blogs I have few bosemani three months old fry's . All I did was introduce one of them in tank looks like he is loving seed shrimps . 10 minutes to introduction I saw him happily hunting down seed shrimps in20 minutes i could only see few . I introduced mountain minnow in another tank looks like he is also loving them . Feasting like any thing .

Same here all these days I Thought seed shrimps were Friendly , Stop feeding them for some days you will see the population of shrimplets and shrimps coming down the your aquarium , You will not be able to see them attack the shrimps unless you have a bare tank . Same with PLANARIA they attack shrimps too .
