What live food cultures are available with members of aquapetz? I want to start culturing them for my trio of juvenile pearl gouramis and 5 variatus platies.

Indoor temperatures now are 14 - 22 C (as per my highly inaccurate aquarium thermometer doing double duty as a general thermometer). I expect the period from Feb to Apr and Sep - Nov to be comfortable for culturing live foods but winters and summers will require some sort of temperature stabilization.

I am based at Chandigarh and can travel to Delhi on weekends once in a while.

the following are available with me with the status.

1. Microfex I can spare a couple of clumps.
2. Meal worms I cannot spare any right now but will be able to give you some adult beetles.
3. Grindals status of culture is uncertain, its alive but cannot be spared right now.

Knock the doors of Romi, Vijendra etc. to get live foods.

I expect to be in Delhi on or just after 7th Feb. As advised by Romi I plan to start with the mini tubifex. Am interested in the grindals too but that depends on success with the mini tubifex and also availability of starters.

Are you accusing Scorpio Rajeev of being a closet live food keeper, Vishaal?

Grindals are headed for extinction in Delhi... The last remaing culture was handed over to Vishaal Dalal, so encouragment and 'maska' applied regularly to him is highly recommended for any grindal seekers...

I am quite sure that Rajeev does not keep any of the known live foods for his live fish.

Culture is alive as i can still see some grindals here and there.

Maska not required. only i need another culture from some other source to spike up the genitic potential of this culture.

The culture is not doing so well then? Is it because of the cold?

Or is it in a steady decline all along?
