My Discus Golden Memories

Unread post by gauravgupta »

I had discus for about 3 years in different size aquariums but finally have to give up due to maintenance and time.

From the starting I am in Love with Discus but u knw whenever u love someone the most that will left u one day for sure.

I have tried my best to do every thing.

I have about 50 pics of my more than 50 diff discus in about 4 or 5 aquariums.

I have decided to try it again after some time and now I have support of all of u.

The reason Discus 'leave' their owner too soon is usually coz people do not realise that this is a demanding species, no matter which way you look at it. It needs both frequent water changes and space. it needs excellent filtration period. i have noticed that if we add up the total money people spend on discus, it comes out to be a big sum overall. Unfortunately, most of this sum is spent on buying more discus and not on better living conditions for it :( Not on buying a bigger tank or finding a bigger corner in the house that can accomodate a bigger tank. Or on equipment that monitors water quality, or does automatic water changes for you. .....

So end result, same amount of money spent by two people, first one spends on replacing discus, and the other guy spends it making suitable arrangements for the discus to live a good healthy life. Difference between the two? One's continues to enjoy his dear pet for a long time, and the other remembers their loss with sadness.

I hope you are able to do all that Gaurav, next time around. you are right, they are very beautiful fish. :)
