Of ferns, stones and wood!
Hello Guys,
I was desperate to make a nice scape in my tank from a long time. Went for a stone collection trip with my buddy Navneeth (about 5 months back) got some really huge ones, selected these three:
The woods and plants:
I didn't have the space to house the fish till the tank was scaped, hence made the scape with half water in the tank. I know, it's not good, but had no choice. Tank Dimension: 3' L x 1.5'H x 18" B.
This is how it looked after the single 36W CFL was fixed:
Got a 36W PLL and fixture (not exactly for an aquarium) in addition to that and here's how it looked after that:
Also, added more ferns
Here's what I still need to do:
1.) Clean the glass, there are water level marks all around.
2.) Make a firm and good two 36W PLL fixture.
3.) Align the filters well.
After that, and removing everything from the tank,
1.) Creating an elevation with river sand
2.) Get more ferns for different levels of placement.
3.) Black Vinyl Background (suggestion by Navneeth)
OK, about stocking now. I love bettas, so i'll have them as it is. Will move the mollies out to my outdoor tub. I'll add 3 more Otocinclus to the existing two numbers (not for algae control, but i like that cutie). Need to add 3-4 more Whiptail Catfish to the existing loner. Maybe reduce the number of betta to balance the bio load. The pesky little YoYo Loaches which are hard to catch are still fooling around, they would be relocated as well.
This is a temporary setup, will update the progress. Hope to improve the setup more.

Cheers,
Karthik

There is a lot of scope to improve this pretty aquascape because you have chosen a very versatile very classic design .... I like how it is a mish-mash of so many different things, native and exotic, colour-bred and natural form, it shows your wide interests very well.

Quick phone update. Added sand, few more ferns and some whiptails
The cucumbers are for the plecos, otos and whiptals.. Still a long way to go.. Will keep posting.
They always love to hang out in the open area and then feed/rest on the wood.
Cheers,
Karthik

Re: Of ferns, stones and wood!
Added more plants today.. Mix and match..
Some crypt Parva on the RHS edge:
Moss on a piece of Coconut Shell and a dwarf windelov fern. BBA on the fern is from the older tank. Hope itt will disappear now since no Co2 (I heard BBA is due to irregular dosage of Co2).
Tripartita and tenellus amidst the ferns.
The threads used for tying and the stones/twigs used to hold the ferns in place are looking odd. Hopefully will get covered in time.
Cheers,
Karthik

Hi guys,
Quick phone update. Added Potamogeton gayi in the background. It's looking odd, but will trim it once it sets in the tank. Added more tenellus too, and changed the position of anubias. Some pics
Planning to add some pinnatifida in front of the gayi. Will get 2-3 more crypt parva from my older tank. Got some anubias lancelota will need to tie, plan and place it in there.
Cheers,
Karthik
