Twinstar Algae Inhibitor

Unread post by aawnaik »

I recently came across with some equipment called Twinstar which is an Algae inhibitor. While the cost is too high , I saw some videos on you tube about DIY Twinstar.

Anyone in this forum has any idea?

You'll need two pieces stainless steel mesh, a 12-24 DC power supply, then connect the wires to the two pieces of mesh. The mesh must not touch each other. No mesh? Use two stainless steel drain strainers, or two stainless steel spoons or forks.

Anyway, it works by oxidizing microbes which kills it instantly. It's not necessary if you can keep the water free of excess nutrients that algae and bacteria use to grow. I used to want to make one, but then I learned that algae grows because of excess nutrients. Once you eliminate nutrient excess, algae is prevented from growing.

Can you show a diagram of this plan?

Just connect the DC power supply to the stainless steel materials. Anode on one piece, cathode on the other. That's it.
