Thanks folks for your kind words.
Its update time, where I've fixed the background yesterday and fill in the tank today. see some snaps (eventhough they are not of good quality)
The leaching process will start and I'm planning to do WC everyday for a week. Let me know your views on this.

adesh8028, this is a very good thread, and the background is looking very attractive. i think it looked good enough even when u didn't use the newspapers... Maybe u would have liked it better once it got a coat of algae, what with the fishload and good lighting...
hope we get to see your frontosa's enjoying it too... but i am a little anxious about all that fevicol in the water... u must do rapid water changes to ameliorate the effect of any toxins to be on the safe side, i think.

Re: DIY : 3D aquarium background for my Tang tank
Partha da, its because of 2 major reasons
1. I applied a cement paint coat and removed it just after applying it from major surfaces to have shadow effects
2. As you guessed, its because of lighting
Romi, I was skeptical about the too flat surfaces for earlier version. So added some uneven surface with newspaper thing. Keeping my fingers crossed on the background's toxin levels. Lets see.

Partha da, it was with actual lighting which I'm going to have in the tank. May be its iPhone which has created illussional effect
BTW, update time on this. And this time it is not so good update; as the front assembly of DIY just popped up from the glass taking the tank hood along with it. Seems, the silicone pasting was not strong, I had put the silicone for 1 day after pasting it to glass before filling the tank up with water. Now, I've some cracks on the background which I will do some fixing on it.
Any suggestion on pasting the background on the tank glass?
