Angel Unwell

Unread post by RemirezyKrazy »

The red color under the gills has increased in the past few days. It has become very inactive; lying in a corner and not responding to food.

Offer Methylene blue bath to the fish.

A very useful link to diagnose fish diseases http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/symptoms.html

probably this has been due to ammonia poisoning. check for other fish if they are showing the same symptoms for eg. they are lethargic or gasping for air on the surface, etc. do a major water change(40-50-%), reduce or discontinue feeding for a couple of days and avoid anything which can further stress the fish. if possible shut off the lights to reduce the stress level.

Are all the fish showing this red gill syndrome?
Just cos it happened to you is no means for you to claim that it will happen to me. Exceptions aren't the rule.

looks like ur angel is not able to handle the ammonia present in ur tank
do not add salt or any meds, the only thing u can do now is do a large water change and clean out the filter, as unless the filter is cleaned it will keep sending more ammonia to the tank.

Only this angel had this symptom.
Thanks a lot guys. Did not do a methylene blue bath, just did a 50% water change yesterday & today and cleaned the filter. Its seems active and has started eating. Feeding dried bloodworms and tubifex :D :D :D :D :D :D

glad to hear that. now try keeping ammonia level low by doing daily 10-20% water change till the tank stabilizes. feed small amt of food and remove any leftover.
