Re: How to kill these two?
First one is Stringy moss for sure. Its a little hard to kill, only method is manual eradication. The good part is that it is a moss, so will not "spread" like algae to all parts of tank, but only grow upwards towards light. But even if a tiny strand is left, it will grow very rapidly. I got mine as a carry-over with some Christmas moss and now I harvest enough to auction off!
The second one seems Algae to me. Try to feel its texture by rubbing gently between finger-tips. if it feels coarse and hair-like, it is algae. I was using a hollow piece of wood as a natural cave for my shrimps. When the moss died in Summers. this algae took over. When I re-tied Java moss to the wood next winter, the moss out-competed the algae and totally took over the drift-wood.
