Sir, you must add one thing. If the water is not soft, liquid carbon will not help much and it ll cause more adverse effects when water is hard and little extra is dosed.DIY CO2 is better in such scenario.

To add on to the cost part: pressurized CO2 is cheaper in the long term than DIY even for a small tank, but the initial cost of a pressurized setup is quite high.
Have tried all the three and for me a pressurized setup beats the other two anyday...
