Re: DIY CO2 reactor query
Hi Zico,
I have been using a 2 Lt DIY Co2 for my 230Lt tank. It works, though for this size I need better and will soon shift to Pressurized but for ur tank It'll work. No need to try and block it at night, the levels are already low enuff, that again u must see how many fish you have. I have used a market available diffuser and that works great too.
I would not suggest u put the nozzle into ur filter intake or anything cuz the DIY Co2 tends to form a byproduct residue which can block or trouble and mechanical inlets. This problems increases with temperature. Rest it's a fine thing to use for small setups if it can bring about changes in my 230 Lt tank.
Best of luck

Re: DIY CO2 reactor query
I am sure you know about the solenoid you have on your CO2(its normally closed solenoid, meaning if NO power it ll be closed)
Similarly there is something called normally opensolenoid, that will be open if no power and it ll let gas/liquid through.
Got my point?

Re: DIY CO2 reactor query
this i understand...but what do you want to use it for, if it is always open?marsaiko wrote:I am sure you know about the solenoid you have on your CO2(its normally closed solenoid, meaning if NO power it ll be closed)

to open a bypass during night time...so that CO2 could get out, but not in the tank?
this would work, i think.
but what is the harm if CO2 gets dissolved during night time, too?
a little drop in pH and rise in CO2-content?
this does not harm your fish

Hi Juanico,
Yes exactly what I was thinking. either in night times or when power goes off.
Well actually the thread starting post had the question to control it, so was just looking for a turnaround.
Thank you.

Ans: There is no way to stop the injection of CO2 at night.

Thank you.

Hi,
DIY is good boost for feel good factor, when you have had enough, believe you me, you are gonna switch to pressurized co2 setups. its better, economical and reliable and hassle free.
keep us posted when u get one for your self
