bhai..grey sand used in construction sites is basically fly-ash from burnt coal from manufacturing plants. It's highly toxic in nature..hope I am giving you the right picture as grey sand used in construction as far as I know is what I stated.

why don't you mix construction sand with simple black crushed stone chips..not the big ones..but ones that are really kindof dust like..that'll give a good shade.

There are some sands that are grey in colour. One such sand is coming from Tatta pani in HP. Though it will not be available in Delhi such sands do exist. Another way out is to visit stone crushers. If they are using dark coloured stones bingo. You would hv hit the jackpot. I am writi g from experience and not just hearsay but will not be able to help u as these sites are quite far from Shimla though very much in my state and I don't go in these directions.
Another good thing about this sand from rampur is that it is rich in quartz and extremely good for rooting plants. Garden centers often use this over and above ghagghar sand.

Wash it carefully, before use in planted tank. I have used Yamuna sand in my first planted tank. Plants grows very well.
