shooting a subject there a few things that are essential
- subject has to comfortable
- no distracting elements in the image
- a niiice contrast
- a balance in the image composed
- as much detail of the subject that can be captured keeping the above intact
in your image the things i would not keep
- the decor of the tank being distractions
- would've cropped the blurred bottom of the image, thus giving more prominance to the fish than the clippedd and blurred sand
- removed the reflection that is there on right top corner
- would've tried to keep the fish on the most highlighting point of focus(following the rule of thirds - as iwagumi suggests )
- would've waited for the fish to come closer to the front of the glass, to gather better details and to get better exposure

Re: Fishy Clicks - Critique
Abhi first two images are good
Coming to the last image, the subject i.e. channa is out of focus whereas the corktail vals are on focus, check it out.|
Cropping the bottom green leaf could have been as it dont serve any purpose.
Lets wait for others suggestion too

Re: Fishy Clicks - Critique
hmmm
i would reiterate
try to get the subject at an offset based on rule of thirds instead of the usual idea of centre
abhi, i have edited ur pic, i hope you wouldn't mind, but if you do let me know and i shall remove it
anyways three step pp and here is the edited pic the three steps i did were
- did some color correction
- increased the constrast
- and cropped out the distracting elements
- cropped it such that the subject is at a rule of thirds focus point

No issues at all. Can see the difference. I don't edit my pics at all. No correction or whatsover. What app did you use?

hmmm
there are a few misconceptions people have about editing images.
when you edit to enhance the image that you have captured there is no problem.
to justify my claim, of the 3 images that you have posted this image was the one i chose because
- the subject was in focus,
- the subject was well lit
- there were no distracting elements very close to the subject.
- the image had a good contrast.
to be summarise this image was a good one, the only issues it had was
- there were a few distracting elements in the image which could be removed by just cropping the image
* like the tail of the other shrimp
* the string using which the plant is tied
* the rock to which the plant is tied.
- although the image is sharp(this i say because the eye of the shrimp is quite sharp), there is some amount of detail that is not caught to the eye because
* the contrast in the image is a little less,
* the image is a little over exposed which makes the subject look a little blurr.
- although the colors of the plant have come out well, the shrimp looks a wee bit dull.
above are the steps i have taken to edit the image, i have tried to explain the reasons behind the specific steps i have done to edit the image
