Using CPU Heat Sink Fans

Unread post by syed.ali »

Today morning was getting lil tired of even my inside tank hitting 30 C mark, So i realised that 1 fan was not able to cope up in the peak hrs.

I had 2 CPU Heat sink fan lying with me. I like them as they have faster speed and are slim profile. Earlier i had mounted them using a mirror clip, but today i realised that i can do without any thing.
I simply cut out a small section in existing frame and that became my inbuilt hang on.

Small saw blade and flat filler did the job for me.

Nice. But I think vibration will displace the fan from its position.

Very nice, Syed. Are they completely steady and secure in their place?

It is snug fit and the vibration from these fans is very low.
I first cut the gap lil less than the glass thickness and then i filed it to snug fit. Also these fans are very light there is no weight issue also.

they were running full time, no issue in the fitting till now

good job :)

Is the result satisfactory?

How much does these cost or should cost?

I am also looking for the same fans and heard they cant be used with the power adaptors?

Thanks.

Yep the result is satisfactory earlier i have only single fan and that one was not able to fight alone in this high heat, the temp was going above 30, now with these 2 add on, i am good, the temp is back in 25-27 range.

I got them along with the heat sink from Junk seller in Nehru place, i think paid 50 or 80 each.

They are running on 12 volt adaptors you can see the details of the adaptor on http://aquapetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=32& ... d&start=20

keeping them in either corners will also help, that way you can get two side support for the fan.

Not really possible bro as sides are thin, so wall is barely think enough to cut it to hook and also get support from side, I might have to do another diy for corner support, will look into that.
