Hi Everyone,

My plants are vanishing from the tank from last one month in spite of taking many actions to cure them. Recently came to know that it is due to snails. Just found that them came in about thousands at night and hide in the morning before I wake up. Just shocked to saw their numbers at mid-night when I surprisingly switch on the lights. Grass in my aquarium was about three year old and their growth were so amazing previously that I made other tanks by giving away my plants but now only few left and I need urgent solution for this.

situation now

Added two spotted loach yesterday but I think they are so huge in numbers that loach won't be able to remove them completely. Now I am giving only one time feed to my fishes in the morning and that too only flakes so food should not reach to base but snails are making food to the plants or died leafs of Nana and Tiger lily.

Just found two links of ebay one is
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Snail-Remover-12 ... 2348281e6d

another one is http://www.ebay.in/itm/ISTA-Snail-Trap- ... 2ee3b68193.

Another thing is snails came only at night so should I kept on room lights for the night or I have some blue LEDs in my aquarium too so can kept them on as well.

What should I do instantly to save the tank.

Snail population increases due to excess amount of food in tank. It is best follow controlled feeding. They will disappear automatically from your tank.

If you dont want to kill them, just made a snail trap. It is simple to made.

Or you can try increasing co2, this will make them come out of their hiding to the surface, where they can be netted out.

Snail trap by putting cabbage etc.
Or remove them manually every day, that will decrease the population.

Just regulate the food supply and try to remove them manually or with a snail trap. You should actually try with a bunch of assassin snails. They're effective too!

Better not to use any more chemicals (in addition to Ferts if you're using) in the aquarium imo.

Cheers,

Karthik

Snail remover will kill them and it may result in ammonia spike.
